Over the next few months, Transamerica is phasing out its current Trendsetter term product in favor of its new TransTerm product line which is now available.  TransTerm is really a flexible premium Universal Life policy with a no lapse guarantee, but with competitive term premiums for the selected level premium term period of 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years.  At the end of the level premium term period, the client has several options for continuing the coverage at guaranteed rates: (1) Guaranteed Universal Life; (2) Increasing premium term; or (3) Subsequent level premium term periods.

Protective Life has just introduced its OneSteop Life which is a flexible premium universal life product that offers a 25% reduction in premium, when compared to other guaranteed universal life products) for the first 5 years.  In year 6, the premium increases to a higher guaranteed level premium which will remain during the selected lapse protection duration of the policy.

This product was designed for those clients who are in need of immediate coast savings.  Below are a few examples of people who might benefit from this product:

  • Aspiring Young Professionals (Doctor, Lawyer, CPA, Financial Advisor)
  • New Small Business Owner
  • Business Owners in a Slump
  • Parents facing college expenses

MetLife has extended the Term Conversion Plus Program through October 14, 2011 and lowered the minimum face amount to $250,000.  A few of the guidelines are listed below.

 

  • Met term policies issued between 2006 and 2010
  • Standard or better rating
  • Multiple policies can be combined to meet the minimum face requirements
  • The first $2 million is eligible for underwriting upgrade
  • Non-guaranteed issue

Medical

  • Personal History - your clients can now get up to a Preferred rating with certain qualifying cancers - thyroid, uterine, cervical, prostate, testicular and skin cancer.
  • Family History - in addition to cancer, family history of diabetes is NO LONGER A FACTOR in determining eligibility for up to a Preferred Plus rating.
  • Cholesterol/HDL - a Preferred Plus rating is now possible as cholesterol is no longer a factor in underwriting UNLESS it's ratable.
  • Blood Pressure - all ages with treated hypertension can now qualify up to Preferred Plus.
  • Elimination of Treadmills

Non-Medical

  • Motor Vehicle Records - up to 3 non-ratable moving violations in the past 3 years.
  • Aviation - pilots may now qualify up to Preferred without an IFR if the insured has 1000 hours and flies between 25-250 hours per year.
  • Foreign Travel - as been increased from 9 to 12 weeks and over 25 new countries have been added.

Binding Limits

  • Autobind has been increased to $60M
  • Autobind and Jumbo limits are now identical for both permanent and term.
  • Autobind on Foreign Nationals has been increased to $25M.
